The Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods of the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Milano invites candidates to submit an expression of interest for one of the 2-year Post-Doctoral positions in Environmental and Behavioral Economics described below. The positions will be funded by a 5-year research grant titled \u201cBehavioral environmental policies for within-HouseHold decisions (ecHHo)\u201d. The project aims to study the intra-household barriers to pro-environmental behaviors taking place inside the home, and to design and target behavioral and communication interventions to overcome such barriers. To achieve its objectives, the project will leverage Randomized Control Trials, focusing on environmental education in schools and digital platforms to promote conservation behaviors, and survey experiments, which will feed into theoretical models of intra-household and inter-generational dynamics in the environmental domain. The PI of the project is Professor Giovanna d\u2019Adda.<\/p>\n

In line with the objectives of the project, we invite applications for two main profiles:<\/p>\n

1) Post-doctoral researcher in Economics of the Household (1 position). The candidate will work on the development of theoretical models informing, in turn building on, the empirical and experimental work carried out within the project.<\/p>\n

2) Post-doctoral researcher in Experimental and Behavioral Economics (2 positions). The candidate will work on the design, implementation and data analysis of the Randomized Control Trials and survey experiment carried out within the project, which will make use of survey data, administrative data on resource consumption, and real-world data from texts and images.<\/p>\n

Main Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ideal candidates are expected to actively contribute to all phases of the project, and to be able to interact with each other. The project will focus on real-world environmental behaviors, such as energy and water usage, waste disposal and mobility choices. To do so, it will leverage high-frequency energy data from smart meters, high-frequency waste disposal data and traffic data across a large sample of households and time.     2. Expand the scenarios simulation model to improve reverse stress-testing capabilities<\/p>\n

    Reverse stress testing identifies the shocks, macro\u2011financial scenarios, and contagion channels that could generate system\u2011wide stress severe enough to damage the real economy. Unlike traditional stress testing, which evaluates resilience to a given scenario, it focuses on the conditions that would cause failures in the financial system. Machine\u2011learning methods could help identify the most harmful scenarios for the financial system.<\/p>\n

    3. Integrate a network contagion modelling into the Bank\u2019s system-wide risk simulation toolkit<\/p>\n

    Interconnections can propagate risks throughout the financial system. For instance, cross-ownership of mutual funds by banks, lines of credit to non-banks, or households' deposits across institutions are network effects we want to better understand and integrate.<\/p>\n

    4. Develop a confidence channel for contagion across economic agents and financial markets and integrate it into the Bank\u2019s system-wide risk simulation toolkit<\/p>\n

    Perceived confidence channels can amplify contagion to the financial system, generating for instance liquidity hoarding mechanisms among various financial market participants.<\/p>\n

    5. Explore the development of an agent-based model for system-wide stress-testing leveraging AI agentic tools<\/p>\n

    The next generation of agent-based model may lend itself to the use of agentic AI to simulate contagion behaviors.<\/p>\n

    The financial stability department monitors developments in the Canadian financial system, conducting analysis and research to assess vulnerabilities and risks for the Canadian financial system and to inform macroprudential policies.     Working environment: Responsibilities and activities<\/h2>\r\n

    This tenure track position (\u201cChaire de professeur junior\u201d) contributes to one of INRAE\u2019s scientific priorities, \u2018Building the qualities of diets\u2019, by linking life-cycle approaches with causal inference methods, with a view to better understand how agro-ecological practices can be better valued by public policies or environmental markets. It also contributes to the overarching objectives of INRAE\u2019s EcoSocio department.<\/p>\r\n

    You will work within the CESAER Joint Research Unit (UMR), a unit comprising around forty scientists and some thirty PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. CESAER is recognised for its work on analysing land-use dynamics and the design and evaluation of regionalised public policies. Your appointment will strengthen the UMR\u2019s research potential and support its ambition to become a national and international leader in the field of agri-food transitions. The proximity to the UMR Agroecology, which has experimental platforms for agro-ecological approaches, will enable the results of large-scale modelling to be compared with field observations.<\/p>\r\n

    Nature and scope of the research project to be developed and associated activities<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

    Public subsidies are not sufficient to encourage the agricultural sector to adopt production methods that address climate and environmental challenges and meet social expectations regarding quality. Remuneration for agro-ecological practices via market mechanisms is being trialled and is diversifying (e.g. environmental labelling of products, Low Carbon Label (Label Bas Carbone)). The success of such schemes depends largely on how farmers adopt them and on the measurement of agro-ecological performance to be highlighted and promoted via the market. The project aims to harness advances in causal inference methods by linking agricultural statistics data (RGA, RICA) with various databases (RMQS, LUCAS-Soil, CESBIO land cover data, the graphical parcel register, data on farms with quality labels, etc.) \u2013 to conduct a robust assessment of the impacts of schemes promoting agro-ecological practices within a life-cycle approach (from farm to fork). An analytical framework centred on the economics of production and the adoption of innovations can serve as a basis for developing indicators to assess and monitor the multiple performance aspects of agroecological practices. Taking into account the heterogeneity of economic agents\u2019 behaviour and the role of spatial interactions in their decision-making could be the focus of methodological contributions.<\/p>\r\n

    Nature and purpose of the teaching project<\/h2>\r\n

    Your expertise will enable you to contribute to the training of engineering students at the Institut Agro Dijon; and to teach modules on economics or environmental science courses at the University of Burgundy Europe. The courses and seminars delivered will aim to enhance the training of young students, in collaboration with the biotechnical and ecological sciences, and may lead to master\u2019s dissertations and doctoral theses. They will cover the theoretical and analytical aspects of quantitative techniques in causal inference, and their application in agricultural economics and environmental economics. Involvement in the development of short training courses aimed at researchers (research schools, summer schools) may also be envisaged.<\/p>\r\n

    Funding and related resources<\/h2>\r\n

    The gross annual salary will be a minimum of 44 500\u20ac, and possibly higher, depending on experience.<\/p>\r\n

    The position comes with a budget of \u20ac295,000 over three years, which will fund a PhD thesis and two post-doctoral years, as well as all operating costs (business trips, equipment and data purchases).<\/p>\r\n

    The successful candidate will be provided with an office at the CESAER Joint Research Unit on the Institut Agro Dijon site, along with IT equipment connected to the internet and the INRAE network, providing access to a wide range of professional software for statistics, modelling and telecommunications, including access to remote, secure databases.<\/p>\r\n

    Professional obligations<\/h2>\r\n

    It is expected that, at the end of the three-year period, the project\u2019s findings will be published in leading journals in the field of environmental and resource economics (such as the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, European Review of Agricultural Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics, to name but a few). Submissions to generalist, interdisciplinary journals (e.g. Science, Nature, PNAS) are also encouraged.<\/p>\r\n

    The project will adopt an open science and reproducible approach by making the codes and datasets available as soon as the results are published. All working documents must be uploaded to the HAL-INRAE platform.<\/p>\r\n

    CESAER also has a broad network of European partnerships which will be mobilised to enhance the internationalisation of the work, for example through participation in a Horizon Europe project.<\/p>\r\n

                                          The Department of Law at the Roma Tre University wishes to make 2 (TWO) one-year appointments to join our growing research team<\/a> of scholars working in the fields of income and wealth distribution, the economics of climate transition, income and wealth taxation, and the redistributive effects of public policies.<\/p>\n

                                          The successful candidates will be collaborating part-time in the development of a research project. The researchers will be responsible for analysing microdata, time series of aggregated data, conducting bibliographic research, and redacting in-depth documents about the specific objectives of the research project. The position also encourages the candidates to devote a substantial amount of time to advancing their research agenda.<\/p>\n

                                          The fixed-term contract runs for 12 months, and renewal can be granted, subject to a positive evaluation of the research and collaboration outputs.                                           The Project \"Drivers and consequences of rising economic inequality\"<\/p>\n

                                          The topics of this call for proposals include the analysis of the distribution of wealth, income, and inequality of opportunity; the positive and normative analysis of income, wealth, and property taxation, as well as inheritance and gift taxes; and the positive and normative analysis of public debt policies; The candidate\u2019s contribution to the research project requires proven expertise in the field of economic research on income and wealth distribution, public economics, income and wealth taxation, carbon pricing, and the economics of the ecological transition. Preferred qualifications include: excellent knowledge of English; proven experience in analyzing microdata (sample surveys and administrative data); knowledge of software and programming languages for statistical and econometric analysis, and strong proficiency in writing programming code; research experience in scientific-disciplinary field 13\/ECON-03, appropriately documented by working papers and publications; a cover letter and any letters of recommendation.<\/p>\n

                                                                We see risk management as a broad, interdisciplinary and strategically significant organizational practice, not merely a compliance or control function. In conditions of deep uncertainty, firms must continuously renew their competitive advantage, making risk management a core strategic capability. Business growth and value creation are increasingly unfolding in networks and ecosystems, demanding new competencies in collaborative risk governance and risk-sharing models. The professorship approaches risk management in this expansive sense \u2014 as a central enabler of firm-level value creation and growth \u2014 and is embedded within the Insurance and Risk Management study track. We value broad competence in risk management rather than a narrowly defined specialization. The selected candidate is expected to develop a research and teaching profile that connects strategic risk management theory with contemporary business challenges, including digitalisation, AI-driven decision-making and climate change adaptation. The research and teaching activities of the selected candidate should address relevant aspects of this focal area.<\/p>\n
